Cisco CCIE Wireless certification demonstrates individuals’ proven wireless expertise in operating wireless local area networking (WLAN) technologies and carrying advanced wireless networking knowledge.

The CCIE Wireless Written Exam (400-351) validates a wireless engineer’s ability to plan, design, implement, operate, and troubleshoot complex enterprise WLAN networks.

The Evolving Technologies module is only available in the Written exam. This module allows candidates to combine their core technology expertise with knowledge of the emerging technologies that have recently been introduced to the market, such as cloud, IoT, and network programmability.

About the exam

The Cisco CCIE® Wireless Version 3.1 exam combines written and lab exam topic documents into a single curriculum, while clearly stating which domains apply to which exam and the relative weight of each domain. The Cisco CCIE® Wireless Written Exam (400-351) is a two-hour exam with 90-110 questions that assesses and validates the highest level of wireless expertise. Passing the CCIE Wireless written exam demonstrates broad theoretical knowledge of enterprise wireless networking, including a solid understanding of wireless local area networking (WLAN) technologies and the ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot complex wireless solutions. The exam is closed book, and no additional reference materials are permitted. Only the Written exam includes an Evolving Technologies section. It will enable candidates to bridge their core technology expertise with knowledge of the rapidly evolving technologies such as Cloud, Network Programmability, and IoT.

 

Step One: CCIE Wireless Written Exam

Before you can schedule the lab exam, you must first pass a two-hour written qualification exam covering concepts and equipment commands.

 

Step 2: CCIE Wireless Lab Exam

The eight-hour lab exam validates your job skills and technical knowledge as a wireless expert-level network professional. To obtain certification, you must pass the lab within three years of passing the written exam. Your first lab attempt must be completed within the next 18 months.
